4 Reasons Why Carmelo Anthony Might Not Be Out of the Spotlight for a While

HedgeFundLIVE — Carmelo Kiyan Anthony, known for his successful basketball career, has emerged into one of the most well known and admired players in the NBA. Most recently getting a lot of attention about his recent trade from the Denver Nuggets, he has just received a 3-year contract with the knicks for $65 Million. However, with all the hype about his new trade, there are a few more reasons why he may not be leaving the limelight any time soon.

Reason #1) - Carmelo Proves to Have Immediate Impact on the New York Knick’s Business -

Did you plan on getting tickets to the Knick’s game on Melo’s first night playing at the Garden? Well, unless you bought tickets before hand, you would’ve paid more than 3 times more had you bought them before the news about him playing with the Knicks became public. Tickets which were priced at less than $65 before the news, immediately rose to almost $200. According to some newspapers, courtside seats  where going for over $6,000. The stock price for MSG was also affected. It opened at $28.30 on Tuesday 2/22 (due to the Market’s close on Monday in observance of President’s day) from a close of $28.02 on Friday 2/18.

 

Reason #2) Carmelo and La La Get Yet Another Reality Show -

Vera Wang Wedding Dresses. Receptions at the infamous Cipriani’s. Seems like a wedding fairytale, huh? Well at least to Carmelo Anthony’s new wife, La La, who is also known for her days as a host on MTV and other TV roles. After “courting” his bride (..get it..) almost 7 years, the couple decided to tie the knot last year and “La La’s Full Court Wedding” was birthed, documenting the couple’s nuptuals. Surprisingly, the couple are getting yet another show scheduled to be aired in August 2011. The docu-series will follow the Anthony family as they move from Colorado to New York after finding out about Carmelo’s trade to the New York Knicks. The series, now called “La La’s Full Court Life”, will be a follow up to “La La’s Full Court Wedding”.

Reason #3) — Carmelo Anthony Has His Own Shoe Line -

Known by many for his style of dress, Carmelo is no stranger to fashion. This may be the reason why this great basketball player is following in the shoes of the Great Michael Jordan not only on the court, but off the court as well. Melo, a few months ago, launched the “Jordan Melo M7″ sneakers. The high-priced, “revelutionary” sneaker, designed by Jordan Brand retails for over $100 and is only available at select retailers.

Reason #4) Carmelo Cares -

Although it has not received as much press in the past, Carmelo’s Development Center in Baltimore, Maryland is receiving more recognition nowadays. Opened in 2006, the Carmelo Anthony Youth Development Center, is an after-school program helping kids with homework and character development. He has donated over $1 million dollars and is known for being an advocate for charitable giving.

This 26 year old seems to have it all. Great career, Family, Business Sense and Good Heart, therefore there is no doubt that we will be hearing more about him in the near future.

Top Ten Craziest Charlie Sheen Moments

With the Middle East in turmoil, unions flooding the state capital, and a string of biblical natural disasters, all anyone really seems interested in these days is Charlie Sheen and his outlandish antics.  This Hollywood lothario has been causing a stir since he could ride a bike and has never failed to one up himself.  Let’s take a look back at the ten moments that stand out above the rest.

Greed is not good

10. Drunk on Wall Street - Under much pressure to live up to his brother’s acting chops Chuck was nervous when it came time to go toe to toe with the venerable Michael Douglas in Wall Street.  He responded in the only way he knew how, getting drunk.  In an interview, he stated ”I’d begun drinking all the time. We shot in New York City, so I’d be out to the bars every night till 3 or 4 a.m., then try to show up for a 6 a.m. call to stand toe-to-toe with Michael Douglas and handle 50% of a scene. How could that work? Yet there I was, the guy that struck gold, looking around at dawn to find that the only one still partying was me.”

9. Shooting Kelly Preston - Whoops, my gun went off when you were rummaging through my clothing!  After only a few months of being engaged Preston found herself in the hospital with a bullet wound in her arm. While this may seem a bit extreme for some, it deserves the number 9 slot because frankly, I am not surprised.

8. Slash’s Advice - You know you have a problem when Slash from Guns ‘N Roses decides its time for you to clean up your act.  It was kind of like the time when Charles Manson told Jeffrey Dahmer “You’re crazy bro.”

7. Sheen Kidz - Yes, inspired by his daughters back in 2005 Charlie decided to start a clothing company for children.  Perhaps his slogan “Hope. Love. Dream.” should have read more like “Call me in ten years.”

6. Best in Drag Judge - Always one to give back to the community, Chuck has been aiding AIDS research for years.  As such, he was invited as a guest judge for a drag queen fundraiser.  While all the contestants were lovely, in the end Sheen decided only one could tuck away the victory.

5. $10mln Book - Let the bidding begin at $10 million.  Sheen announced he would be willing to write a “tell-all” memoir about his adventures on and off the set of Two and a Half Men for no less than a cool seven figures.  Just imagine what we don’t already know.

4. Television’s Highest Paid Actor - With a reported $1.3 to $1.8 million per episode, Sheen quickly became TV’s most expensive star.  Think of all the cocaine he could buy with that.

3. Porn Star Party - Chuck reportedly paid adult film star Kascey Jordan $30,000 for a night of partying in his Hollywood mansion.  No need to speculate about what went down that night, if you think it happened it probably did.

2. Denise Richards Divorce - This one set a new standard for Hollywood mudslinging.  Richards accused Sheen of being a gambling addict, watching kiddie porn, buying prostitutes, and trying to force her to have an abortion.  His response: ”You are a pig. A sad, jobless pig who is sad and talentless and, um, oh yeah, sad and jobless and evil and a bad mom, so go fuck yourself, sad, jobless pig.”

1. Radio Rampage - This one deserves the top spot because of its timeliness as well as its repercussions.  He boasted about turning tin cans into gold, threatened to drop his “ordinance” all over everyone, and even took a potshot at Thomas Jefferson.  Thomas Fucking Jefferson!!!  Say what you will about Charlie, this one was awe inspiring.
