The Reel that Sizzles
Yes, I’ll admit that I have fallen victim to the phenomenon that is the Jersey Shore. Every week, against my better judgment I tune in to the alcohol fueled hijinks of The Situation, Snooki, JWoww, Pauly D. et al. Needless to say, I find a complete dearth of redeeming social value; however, there are few things more entertaining than watching a pack of alpha males exploiting their 15 minutes of fame to ensnare America’s unsuspecting daughters or witnessing language unfit for the female lexicon escalate into an all out cat fight. Indeed, reality television continues to define the term “guilty pleasure.”
Yesterday, Jeremy announced that he received an e-mail from his associate expressing that our “sizzle reel” has been met with enthusiastic acclaim and the possibility of our own reality show is in fact…a reality. Although our office lacks the scantily clad women and spray-on tans that have catapulted Jersey Shore to superstardom, it is not difficult to see where the intrigue lies. Every day we lay millions of dollars on the line while swings in the market beget swings in temperament and mood. We struggle with the challenges of building a business and receive news that can be heart breaking or glorifying on a regular basis. We learn from each other and grow personally and professionally as our collective constantly evolves. It is my hope that our show gains appeal for our intellectual insight and unrelenting work ethic rather than chiseled abs and promiscuous escapades…but then again what type of guilty pleasure would that be?
